For many years, Icelandic horses have been our passion. Their unique character, incredible temperament and extraordinary gaits have inspired us every day.
Now we're excited to share that passion with you.
Introducing Pentland Tölt – An Icelandic Horse Experience at Pentland Hills Icelandics.
Nestled in the beautiful Pentland Hills, just outside Edinburgh, we're creating something a little different.
Not a trekking centre.
Not a riding school.
A place where experienced riders can discover what makes the Icelandic horse one of the world's most remarkable breeds.
Our small-group experiences will include:

🏇 Introduction to Tölt – Learn about the five gaits, help to groom and tack up one the horses and experience the smoothness of tölt in our specialised workshops (maximum of 3)
⛰️ The Pentland Hills Tölt Adventure – A two-day immersive experience combining horsemanship, herd management and unforgettable riding through the Pentland Hills (maximum of 3)
Whether you're curious about the breed or looking to develop your riding with Icelandic horses, we can't wait to welcome you.
Follow our journey as we launch- meet the horses, and share the magic of the Icelandic horse.
Experience the difference. Discover the tölt.

Cancellations by Us
We reserve the right to cancel, postpone or amend any experience where necessary for the safety and welfare of our horses, riders or staff. This may include, but is not limited to:
Where we cancel an experience, you will be offered an alternative date. If we are unable to offer a suitable alternative, a full refund will be issued.
Rider Requirements, Conduct & Weight Limit
Many of our experiences are designed for experienced riders only. It is your responsibility to ensure you meet the advertised rider requirements before booking.
To protect the health and welfare of our Icelandic horses, we have a strict maximum rider weight limit of 90 kg (198 lbs), including riding clothing and equipment. It is your responsibility to ensure you meet this requirement before booking. We reserve the right to verify a rider's weight on arrival if necessary.
All riders will be assessed prior to riding. If, in the opinion of our instructors, a rider does not demonstrate the required level of competence, exceeds the maximum weight limit, or participation is considered unsafe for either the rider or the horse, we reserve the right to refuse participation. In these circumstances, no refund, transfer or credit will be given.
The safety and welfare of our horses, staff and all participants is our highest priority. We expect all riders to behave in a respectful, courteous and responsible manner throughout their visit. Any behaviour deemed unsafe, abusive, aggressive, intimidating or disrespectful towards our horses, staff or other participants will not be tolerated. Riders must follow all instructions given by the owner or instructors at all times.
The owner reserves the right to refuse participation or terminate a rider's involvement at any stage of the experience if their behaviour is considered inappropriate, unsafe, or likely to compromise the welfare of the horses or the safety and enjoyment of others. If participation is terminated for these reasons, the rider will be required to leave the premises immediately. No refund, transfer or credit will be provided.
Weather
Our experiences operate in typical Scottish weather conditions, including rain, wind and cold temperatures. Experiences will only be cancelled where weather or ground conditions are considered unsafe for riders or horses.
The decision as to whether conditions are safe for the experience to proceed rests solely with the owner or designated instructor. A participant's personal preference not to ride due to weather conditions does not constitute grounds for a refund, transfer or credit.
If we determine that conditions are unsafe and cancel the experience, you will be offered an alternative date. If we are unable to offer a suitable alternative, a full refund will be issued.
Late Arrival & No Shows
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled start time.
Late arrivals may not be able to join the experience once it has commenced. No refunds, transfers or credits will be offered for late arrivals or failure to attend.
Gift Vouchers
Gift vouchers are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Expiry dates will not be extended except where required by law.
Liability
We strongly recommend that customers arrange their own travel insurance to cover cancellations due to illness, injury, travel disruption or other unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.
By completing your booking, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted this Refund, Cancellation & Booking Policy.
